what you need to know about Pendulum Summon

This post will be about the new mechanic introduced in ARC V
I will update the post with more info later
Last Update: 2/21/2014
A Pendulum Summon is a system that can Summon high-Level monsters
First let's talk about the Pendulum Monsters
and the best way to do that by looking at what we have so far
but before that let's talk about the new "FIELD"
Credits: Created by YGOhack137. check out his Youtube Channel
As you can see we have 2 New Zones called the Pendulum Zones between the Deck/Grave on the right and the Extra Deck/Field on the left. On these Pendulum Zones you can place the new group of monsters called “Pendulum Monsters”
Konami already revealed 2 Pendulum Monsters in the Starter Deck 2014
Magician of Astromancy
and
Magician of Chronomancy
so let's take the last on and talk about the new things about this mechanic
As you can see they are Half Monster & Half Spell. These Pendulum Monsters can be used just like regular monsters, but when you place them in your Pendulum Zones they become Spell Cards with Spell effects. If a Pendulum Monster is sent to the Graveyard, it is placed face-up in your Extra Deck instead (The 15 Cards limit in the extra deck won't be a problem)
Spell Effect: Works if the monster => Pendulum Zone
Monster Effect: Works if the monster => Monster Zone
The effects of the described card are
Spell Effect
If you control no monsters, you can activate this card. If a Pendulum Monster you control battles, your opponent cannot activate any Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step. If you don't have a "Majutsushi" card or an "Odd-Eyes" card in your other Pendulum Zone, this card's Pendulum Scale becomes 4.
Monster Effect
Once per turn, cards in your Pendulum Zone cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects.

i'm assuming that they are treated like "Regular Monsters" in the Hand/Deck so elemental Summoner/Searcher like Giant Rat/Sangan can search them if they met the right conditions
The Term "Place" in the Pendulum Zone is from the Hand (not sure if you can move one from the monster zone to the pendulum zone) but we don't know if that "Place" term means activation to negate them with card like Dark Bribe (at least we know that you can MST them since they're Spell Cards)

so how to perform a Pendulum Summon?
Once you have a Pendulum placed in each Pendulum Zone, you can perform a Pendulum Summon. Pendulum Summons can only be done once per turn. In the example given, we have a Pendulum with a Pendulum Scale of 1 and another with a Pendulum Scale of 8. So for the summon, you take the numbers that are between the two Pendulum Scales, which in this case is 2-7, and you now have the Level of the monsters you can Summon. With the Pendulum Summon, you can Special Summon any number of monsters from your hand, and face-up Pendulum Monsters in your Extra Deck whose Levels are within that range. but only once that turn so for example if you choose to Pendulum summon 2 Gadgets and use their effs after that to search for another 2 Gadgets you can't Pendulum summon again.
also you can summon Pendulum Monsters from your Extra Deck if it met the LV requirements (remember if a Pendulum Monster is destroyed and sent to the grave you place it Face-up in the Extra Deck)

Early Pendulum Support
Magitechquipped Dragon Etherweapon
You can only use the effect of "Magitechquipped Dragon Etherweapon" once per turn. ① When this card is Pendulum Summoned: You can target 1 card on the field; return that target to the hand.
Question with no answers yet
i know a lot of you are saying "this mechanic seems incredibly complicated and situational"
How did you play Machina Gadgets before Xyz? lol, you just need to work on your deck so far the mechanic seems that it need full deck dedication but who knows (Lightsworns got their 1st Synchro last year)
Are they treated as Continuous Spell in the Pendulum Zones?
We don't know that yet but at least we're sure that you can MST/Dust them.
Can you perform a Pendulum Summon of Cards Like Dark Armed Dragon?
No. You can't. and that's why Konami is planning to change the Text Errata/Ruling of Few cards like Wulf, Lightsworn Beast - Catapult Turtle.... same thing about Ritual Monsters.
Can you put new pendulum monsters in occupied zones to get rid of your old ones (like field spells)?
No info about that.
Can you manually move monsters from the pendulum zone to the monster zone?
 No info about that.
Are you telling my mats are useless now?
Well, Konami have no-returns policy. same thing about duel disks and motorcycles xD

We'll have clear translation or explanation of how these things work later
Starter Deck 2014 and the Official Rule book will be released March 21

  1. Pojoites are saying that you can only summon 1 of the same level from your hand but the organization did not confirm that yet
